Our Plan to End Childhood Hunger

In 2004, Share Our Strength launched its national strategy and 10-point plan to end childhood hunger in America. The strategy focuses on long-term solutions that support access to nutritious food and healthy food choices, and bridge the gaps between existing effective programs and families who need them. • Hunger predisposes our children to behavioral difficulties.
• The average monthly food stamp benefit is $93 per person — barely $1 per meal.
• Households with children have a food insecurity rate almost double that of households without children, increasing their risk of hunger tremendously.
• More than one-third of individuals served by food banks are children under 18.
