SHARE OUR STRENGTH - NO KID HUNGRY

Double your gift

Dear Friend,

Earlier this year, we met a third grade teacher who told us about some of the children in her classroom who struggle with hunger. One of them, a boy named Darrel, asked her for a quarter every morning. When she finally asked why he needed the quarter, he explained that the reduced-price school lunch costs 25 cents, and that his mom didn’t have a quarter to give to him. Darrel’s teacher gave him a quarter every day from then on.

Darrel is just one of more than 16 million kids facing hunger because their families can’t always afford to buy food. And this problem is much too big for caring teachers, like Darrel’s, to solve alone.

This Thanksgiving, we have an extraordinary matching gift opportunity to fight hunger and help connect kids like Darrel to the programs and services they need to grow and thrive. Our No Kid Hungry Partners are challenging friends like you to help us provide children with healthy food where they live, learn and play — for every dollar you give, they will match it dollar for dollar!

Here are some ways your gift can make a difference:

  • $25 can help provide a month’s worth of snacks to a child in an afterschool program
  • $50 can help connect a family to nearly $900 in food assistance to make nutritious meals at home
  • $100 can help deliver mobile meals to a child in need for three months

And don’t forget that every dollar you give will be doubled. That means $50 becomes $100, $100 becomes $200 and $200 becomes $400!

While we have made great strides in 2011 to reach as many children as possible, there’s more work ahead. Will you help by giving a gift today?

Thank you for all that you do for Share Our Strength — and the children who are counting on us to end childhood hunger.

Sincerely,

Billy Shore
