BOSTON’S TOP CHEFS JOIN FOR SHARE OUR STRENGTH’S
2007 TASTE OF THE NATION PRESENTED BY AMERICAN EXPRESS
Boston Event Contributes to Nationwide Fight to End Hunger
BOSTON, February 6, 2007 On April 5, 2007 from 6:30 p.m. 9:00 p.m., more than 70 of Boston’s top restaurants including Tremont 647, Rialto, Finale, Masa, Les Zygomates, East Coast Grill, and many more, will join together at the Hynes Convention Center in the fight against hunger at Share Our Strength's TASTE OF THE NATION Boston, presented nationally by American Express. Part of the largest nationwide benefit to fight hunger, this annual fundraiser includes food and wine tastings from the city’s finest restaurants, wineries, and Samuel Adams, an extensive silent auction, and live entertainment.
National sponsors, Sysco, Food Network, Jack Daniels and San Pellegrino, have joined with local sponsors including Timberland, Comcast CN8, Yale Appliance & Lighting, Whole Foods Market, Stuff@Night, Vermont Butter & Cheese, and Costco; greater Boston’s restaurant community; and an all-volunteer organizing committee to ensure that 100 percent of all ticket sales go direct to the fight to end childhood hunger.

“Each year, more than 13 million American children face hunger and the number of Americans who went homeless and hungry last year actually increased,” said Caralyn Quigley, chair of Taste of the Nation Boston. “Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation Boston gives chefs, restaurateurs, corporate partners, and concerned members of the community the opportunity to come together to help solve this problem.”
Share Our Strength, one of the nation’s leading anti-hunger organizations, started Taste of the Nation in 1987. Since 1988, TASTE OF THE NATION Boston has raised more than $1.2 million to support local and statewide organizations such as the Food for Free Committee, The Greater Boston Food Bank, Operation Frontline Massachusetts, and Project Bread/The Walk for Hunger. Twenty percent of annual proceeds also benefit national and international anti-hunger, anti-poverty efforts.
“Taste of the Nation mobilizes thousands of Americans to join the fight against hunger,” said Bill Shore, founder and executive director of Share Our Strength. “It allows members of the community to get on board with Share Our Strength’s commitment to addressing both immediate and long-term solutions to hunger and poverty.”
TASTE OF THE NATION Boston event spokespeople are Andy Husbands and Jody Adams. Both are available for radio, television and print interviews schedule permitting. Contact Dalyn A. Miller at 617-504-6869 or
